613 - Shiny Things

It is only now and only slowly, that I find the time to enjoy some of the books that came out of SoFoBoMo. One that particularly inspires me because of its wonderful fresh look on details “in between”, is Esther Emma Jongste’s “Colorful Daily Details”. I’m loving it and it influences the way I see. Yesterday’s telephone receiver (which is currently on Fine Art Photoblog) came out of that, and in a way today’s image as well. After two weeks of fisheye images I enjoy being back to small details.

It’s early in the morning now, I was too tired to post yesterday. Work is tough at the moment. When I left, light was already failing. I probably should have asked two guys, who were practicing bicycle jumps, if I could take some images. I would even have had my flash with me, but after 11 hours of work I could not muster the energy. Pretty silly though. I guess I could have gone away with some first class action shots.

Anyway. I decided for the slow route, and on my way home I took a series of images of the usual things, cars, street corners, graffiti and such. This closeup image of a car back light is what I liked most.

The Song of the Day is “Shiny Things”, again from the great Tom Waits’ Opus Magnum “Orphans”. Take the time and hear into the sound sample on Amazon’s site. The only thing I’ve found on YouTube was an arrangement for ukulele, but - hey, why not? It’s a pretty little melody.

Bill Birtch and I are playing ping pong with these songs from Orphans, every once in a while he chooses one and then I do, but they are really that good. Oh, by the way, Bill has a pretty nice image of a bicycle over there. You know, I love bicycles πŸ™‚

I cannot make colors glow like this. It depresses me. Once again, I shall go turn on some political news so that I may giggle my way out of the funk you have induced.

This is a very cool shiny thing.

I can just imagine it huge in a very contemporary penthouse condo...

hi andreas, searching for your car back light from round and about one and a half years ago, i scrolled along this image. it's of such a beauty. the light, the blur, the perspective, composition, all of it. and i never saw it before. than i red what your wrote. i discovered that you were inspired, taken this image, by my SoFoBoMo 2008 contribution. well, that's just marvellous and so surprisingly. and even more if you know, it was you, pointing me to the SoFoBoMo project two years ago. πŸ™‚ from the first image i saw of your work two years ago, i was impressed by the way you captured the world surrounding you. today scrolling through a lot of your images, lots of memories came back and together with that, the thoughts i had, looking at your images for the very first time. and amazingly the thoughts now, were still the same and as fresh as saw i the picture for the first time again. so you can say, your work inspires me no matter how i do or think or feel at that moment (oeps can you still follow me? πŸ™‚ what i want to say is this; our works inspire each other and maybe you can say, we bring our works to a another level. it is a wonderful and constructive thought, i think. πŸ™‚ and in a way it is satisfying too. πŸ™‚ and with that, a perfect last sentence for a wintery sunday afternoon. (white landscape is back again πŸ™‚

Yeah, it's funny, huh? Of course writing the answer to your comment to 1197 – Take The Box, I had not looked up this entry, and in fact I had completely forgotten, that the entry was actually about YOU πŸ™‚ Now, having you inquire about an image, that reminded me of an image, that was originally inspired by you, what more proof of a connection of two minds can you have? πŸ˜„ Have a nice Sunday!

i forgot to mention that i couldn't find the back light of the car at all. do i understand that this *is* the image you mend?? really, i hadn't the slightest idea. i just came along this one, searching my way to the back light. πŸ™‚ = quoting you: Now, having you inquire about an image, that reminded me of an image, that was originally inspired by you, what more proof of a connection of two minds can you have? = and in the end, this is the back light, i didn't recognize as the back light. i'm completely speechless! but certainly laughing out loud. πŸ™‚) lol
