2365 - Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere

This is part of the apartment complex where I live now in Vienna. It’s not the most flattering of views (while in fact this is one of the best apartment complexes that I’ve seen in a long while), but when I saw this yellow needle in front of architecture and blue sky, I simply had to take the picture.

The other image is of a mail box somewhere near where I (still) work. I have no idea what the writer meant, but if you’re interested, just google it yourself 🙂

The Song of the Day (Monday, to be precise) is “Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere” from the Neil Young album of the same name. I just bought it and can heartily recommend it. Hear it on YouTube.

Hi Andreas, I like the composition, a clever arrangement of the diagonals. You've found an interesting angle. It's a subject that I know I would struggle with. Is that utility pole a permanent fixture or will they tidy it up eventually?

Well, I really hope they will tidy it up 🙂 This complex of around 150 apartments was opened at the end of February. Imagine 150 families moving in at roughly the same time. It is inevitable that some things will be damaged, and so the final paint in staircases and corridors has not been applied yet. This will happen in about half a year when the initial storm is over. I suppose this pole (whatever it is) will vanish at about the same time.

Wow, the color really pops! So clean. Also love the reflections of color in the windows, and geometries. I'm thinking modern Mondrian...
