1086 - Time Flies

Well, here we are: my first real post on the new blog. Was it simple? Hell, no, but in the meantime, after much work, things have settled. Most of the old URLs, those that still bring visitors via Google or some tutorial sites, work on the new site as well.

Layout is pretty neat, but this is not at all my work. It’s simply one of the better WordPress layouts. The display mechanism, i.e. the page that opens when you click an image, is crudely crafted, in fact these were my first steps in PHP, some days ago. There is no way to browse the images, at least nothing but browsing the blog. I plan to add some gallery system, but I’ll have to evaluate my options first.

Anyway. This is an image of Saturday. It’s the same way leading to the same lake as a week before, and I was even swimming this weekend. I’m not sure yet, but it looks like I would get one more opportunity next weekend 🙂

The Song of the Day is “Time Flies” from the 1992 Vaya Con Dios album of the same name. Hear it on YouTube.

Oh, and … if you like what you see … and especially if you don’t … please just leave me a comment 🙂

Congrats on your re-launch! Just before your switch, I'd decided to take the plunge beginning November 1 and also opted for Wordpress. Grey Matter is my first choice for a theme (similar to this?), but then ran up against fixed vs. fluid and gallery functions as well. I envy your programming abilities, and appreciate you sharing the process with us. Looking good. 😉

Thanks. Well, I'll try to wrap this up in a post, I'll post the programs as well, but it will help only so much. This was real, real programming and a lot of logistics. But still, I suppose it may help at least a little, and not everyone will have the same problems that I had. Oh dear, the guys at SmugMug make leaving really hard 🙂

Neat, and a well made transition. Hope now that you will listen to yourself better than smugmug did. 🙂

Well, all the ugly work is done. Should I ever change the blogging system again (e.g. because I hate my own service), it were a matter of export/import only. The real problem were SmugMug's URLs 🙂

Well done, congratulations! Quite a challenge to do such a big renovation, but look already worth it.

Have a Wordpressblog too, equivalent to my blogger. (haven't updating lately), but i'm not really amused with the layouts. so still going strong on blogger. Did last some orientating on other possibilities, but no satisfactorily result cq solution. I'm pretty busy with other things than blogging, so there is a break in this. (i'm searching for a tag-cloud or something like that for example. that is much more handy and needs less space 🙂 have good day and keep going the good work (photograping 🙂

Well, templates are not the strength of Blogger either 🙂 What you see so far, is a layout strictly out of the box. I have not even taken my time to thoroughly search for layouts. I've just taken the first black one that would fit. Expect to see many visual changes over the course of the next weeks.

Late to the party, but still: Congrats to the new blog! The layout is consistent - black definitely has its advantages as an image background. And your image nicely shows that light at the end of a tunnel after such a period of sweating. Thumbs up!

Thanks. "Sweating" is really the term 🙂
