On my way back from Spittal to Villach I took the slow road along Millstädter See, one of Carinthia’s largest lakes.
When I saw this tree I was struck like Moses in front of the Burning Bush. I stopped the car to take a few images. It was just the right moment, just the right light. A few days later the magic would have been gone.
Only then did I see the still red, half-withered leaves on the ground, burning like fallen rubies in the green grass.
