3360 - Only 285 Years Later

I’d call this an impressive ceiling. From São Vicente it was only a short walk to a church that we’ve already seen from Santa Luzia.

Here’s a nearer view from the roof of São Vicente. This is Igreja de Santa Engrácia, also known as Portugal’s “National Pantheon”. It is remarkable not only for its beautiful architecture, but also for its long time of construction. From groundbreaking in 1681, it took 285 years to completion.

The Image of the Day and the view from afar were taken with the 12-40/2.8, but of course this is home turf for the fabulous 7-14/2.8. We’ll see a few more images tomorrow.
