Frequently, I use exposure bracketing, five images one EV apart, to create an HDR-capable image, and then I use tone mapping to map the tonal values into the range visible on devices incapable of displaying real HDR. That’s exactly what I meant up to now, when I spoke of having taken an HDR image.
This single image does not look bad, but real HDR can’t improve it. The RAW does not contain detail in the highlights.
